Andy Stanford
Andy has been at Walsh since 2000 and brings nearly 30 years of valuable skilled experience to our team. He is one of a few unique engineers capable of designing both civil and structural engineering projects. As a Director with overall responsibility for our civil engineering team, Andy has a comprehensive understanding of drainage schemes, sewer arrangements and flooding. Furthermore he has specific expertise in both low and high-rise buildings, including domestic construction, timber frame and modular construction across all types of materials.
His rich depth of knowledge comes from his experience across a range of roles in the industry for both consultants and contractors. This experience is put to good use as Director with overall responsibility for health and safety within the company.
Fuelled by an enthusiasm for sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS), Andy regularly teaches and assists Year 3 children as part of their ‘Wild Weather’ national curriculum topic. He also lectures at Nottingham University, and takes 40 undergraduates on a residential course to learn core structural skills once a year. Currently, Andy is assisting the Institution of Civil Engineers with their industry guidance on contamination.
“At school I loved problem solving and I worked with my Dad on building sites from the age of 12, so to me, Civil Engineering is a much-loved hobby that has grown into an exciting career.”
