Meet the Walsh team

Ian Welsh – Managing Director

Ian has been a key part in making Walsh the company it is today. As the Director with overall responsibility for technical matters and resources, his drive, ambition and depth of knowledge has helped grow the business and move us forward since he joined in 1997. Furthermore, he is able to offer this focus and determination to clients and colleagues in his role as a project director. With strong expertise and experience in structures across all sectors, he takes responsibility for the checking and monitoring of projects from conception to completion. Ian is also our Director of resources and training. In this role he is able to help mould the next generation of engineers, supporting them through their chartership exams and sharing his comprehensive knowledge in almost every department.

Clients appreciate the confidence that Ian instils in them, knowing he is an accomplished and responsible leader they can trust. He is extremely dedicated to his projects and is relentless in his pursuit of excellence, doing his utmost to offer the best solutions and ideas to clients. Those who work with him praise his helpful attitude, which ensures problems are avoided and needs are always met.

Amongst the many impressive projects that Ian has worked on is the Bankside development. This scheme was technically challenging and particularly interested Ian as it introduced new forms of construction. Ever the adaptable and versatile expert, Ian was able to apply his technical understanding to this new area seamlessly and with confidence.

“Engineering should be simple. If a structure is easy to design, it’s easy to build.”
