Building Conversion

A complex re-arrangement of the architectural layout required innovative and sympathetic structural design solutions.

This is a high profile refurbishment project, in the heart of bustling Covent Garden, which demanded a high level of care and consideration.

Key challenges involved the underpinning of the external walls in order to lower the basement and extending the posts of an ornate listed gallery structure.

As the construction work progressed, Walsh worked closely with both the contractor and the Architect enabling us to react quickly to findings on site and adapt the design accordingly in both an efficient and considerate manner.

Due to the extent of the refurbishment and the constraints of the existing structure, it was imperative that all aspects linked with our design were carefully considered. Temporary works and construction sequences were continuously planned and monitored throughout the design and construction to ensure that the work could always be carried out logically and safely.
