Lea Valley River Park Fatwalk

Infrastructure and Masterplanning

Managing the designs of an essential pedestrian link from the Olympic Park to the East India Docks including two bridges and an underpass.

We were thrilled to be part of the huge team of contractors and engineers involved in the development of London 2012 Olympic venues across the country. In this case, the challenge to Walsh was to develop a walkway from the Olympic Park in Stratford across to the East India Docks. We were initially appointed to investigate the flood risk and assess the river walls. However, our collaborative approach and comprehensive expertise led to us managing all engineering approvals and being the prime engineering contact on this project. This involved the planning and design management of two bridges and an underpass. We also managed the health and safety risk throughout.

Within this project, there were numerous stakeholders to consider including the London Boroughs of Newham, London Borough of Tower Hamlets and The Environment Agency. This suited our open way of working and we maintained successful levels of communication during the project.
