Education
We have considerable experience in the education sector, working on both government funded and privately funded projects. Over the years this sector has become more dependent on the residential sector, where large residential building developments create demand for a new school in the area. Within the education sector there is almost always a need to add value engineering to a project and this has been made more possible by the standard schools and layouts coming into use on many school developments. Although many schools adhere to this ‘model school’ structure, we can also adapt standard sites to create more bespoke schools.
When it comes to building educational structures, finding the best way of achieving the varying spans for classrooms, assembly spaces and sports halls is the most interesting challenge. Solutions can be found using all types of materials and techniques. In this sector we have experience in steelwork with pre-cast or composite decks, concrete frames including post-tensioning, and we have looked at modern methods of construction including cross-laminated timber (CLT).
